While specifications ASTM B622 and ASTM B163 cater to both nickel and nickel based alloys, the ASTM B161 specifically caters to Nickel NW 2200 material. All three specifications cover the chemical requirements as well as the mechanical requirements of this nickel alloy.

Table Of Content
The parameters covered under the Alloy 200 Seamless Tubing include elongation, tensile strength, yield strength, and Rockwell hardness, which in turn are to be tested by the various methods that have been mentioned in the specification. Being a solution strengthed, pure wrought grade material, the ASTM B161 werkstoff nr. 2.4066 annealed tube like most nickel based alloys has great performance across a wide range of temperatures. When the UNS N02200 cold drawn tube is exposed to oxidation, the metal tends to undergo passivation.
During this process, there is a creation of a passivated oxide layer on the surface of 200 Nickel Alloy hot finish tubing, which in turn protects the alloy from being oxidized further. Although the alloy can be used at high temperatures, most suppliers highly discourage using the ASME SB163 Nickel Alloy 200 welded tubing over a temperature of 600° F.
This is because the alloy is prone to get graphitized at temperatures above 600° F. The properties of ASTM B622 Nickel 200 ERW Tubes in a graphitized are not that promising as opposed to their pre-graphitized state. The Nickel 200 Tube is one such alloy which is used in the manufacturing process as well as the handling of sodium hydroxide, especially at conditions where the temperatures can rise above 300° F.

The Nickel alloy 200 is a commercially pure nickel material that has up to 99.6% nickel in its composition. Due to the material strength, it is used in alkalis and acids. It is produced in seamless and welded conditions. The wall thickness of the pipes range from 1mm to 15mm approximately. These wall thicknesses coordinate with the diameter range of 1/8inches to 8 inches and schedules 5 through 160. The material is specifically resistant to sulfuric, hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acids. The applications can be seen in marine, chemical, organic acid and in food processing industries.
