While the C22 may be a stronger alloy in comparison to Alloy NW 0276 material, the latter is a more popular, more versatile steel grade. This is partially due to the alloy being slightly inexpensive in comparison to Hastelloy C22, on account of its lower cost of manufacture.

The Hastelloy Alloy C276 hot finish tubing is one of the very limited alloys which has immunity against not only wet chlorine gas but also against hypochlorite and chlorine dioxide solution. Most of our clients appreciate the fact that these Nickel Alloy 625 ERW Tubes can be used in an as welded condition. The ASME SB622 UNS N10276 welded tubing offers great weldability properties. Moreover, in the heat affected weld zone, the alloy does not promote the formation of grain boundary precipitates.
In addition to being resilient to pitting, the DIN 2.4819 annealed tube is able to demonstrate a remarkable resistance to stress related corrosion cracking. The corrosion resistance properties of Alloy C276 Seamless Tubing, especially in the presence of acids such as sulfuric acid, formic acid, acetic acid, hydrochloric acid as well as chlorides and solvents, is regarded to be excellent.
The mechanical properties of ASTM B622 Alloy C276 cold drawn tube are high even after exposure to corrosive inorganic acid and organic acid solution. The weight of each Hastelloy C276 Tube along with its chemical composition is to be determined in accordance to the ASTM B622.

The seamless and welded tubes are made through two different manufacturing methods. The seamless tube is usually extruded and drawn from a single piece of billet so that it is smooth and uniform in dimensions. It is dimensionally accurate. The welded tube is made up of a strip that is welded either longitudinally or spirally. The major difference is that the seamless tubes have no welded joints, and have less absolute roughness; so they have even wall thickness. The welded tubes have welded tracks but are stronger and have higher absolute roughness; so they often have uneven surfaces. The Hastelloy C276 is a nickel molybdenum, chromium alloy stabilized with tungsten, cobalt and vanadium. So the material can be produced in either seamless or welded tubes.
