The AMS 5665 Flat Bar produced under SAE’s specification accommodates those applications where the chief concern is resistance to corrosion and heat resistance. This heat resistance property is evident as Inconel 600 Round Bar does not get embrittled even after prolonged exposure to elevated temperatures.

Along with being able to maintain its mechanical properties at an elevated temperature setting up to 2000°F, the Inconel Alloy 600 Cold Drawn Round Bar is one alloy which will be able to deliver a good performance even when used in cryogenic temperatures. At ambient temperatures, the 600 Inconel Hollow Bar will exhibit good impact strength, which still remains the same even if the alloy is used at a low temperature application. Unlike many conventionally used stainless steel grades, in the presence of low temperatures, the Inconel 600 hot rolled rod does not undergo a tough to brittle transition phase.

 

By adding chromium to the ASME SB 166 Alloy 600 Forged Bar, the alloys tolerance for oxidizing conditions tends to increase. In comparison to commercially pure nickel grades, this alloy has much superior resistance to oxidizing conditions. However, the Nickel Alloy 600 Rod exhibits fair resistance in the presence of strong oxidizing acidic solutions. As the base alloying element of ASTM B166 Inconel 600 hex bar is nickel, the alloy inherently has superior resistance to reductive conditions.

 

The resistance to both several organic and inorganic compounds is a property which again has been attributed to the nickel content present in UNS N06600 Bright Bar. What makes the WERKSTOFF NR. 2.4816 Square Bar even more special is that the alloy is able to resist not only carburizing atmospheres but also chloride containing environments.

Weight difference between Inconel 600 round bar and flat bar

The Inconel 600 is a nickel chromium alloy with other elements in limited quantities. The density of the material is 8.47g per cubic centimeter. Depending on the shape of the material, the volume differs greatly. The round bars are made with a circular cross section where the flat bars are made with a rectangular cross section. So the volume of material per length differs. The AMS 5665 round bars weigh 0.7kg per meter, but the flat bars of the same length would weigh much lower. The weight of the flat bar depends on the thickness of the bar.
