Which means that Nickel Alloy 718 Rod can be classified as a superalloy. Superalloys tend to exhibit a set of key features. In the case of AMS 5662 hot rolled round bar the key properties exhibited by the alloy include superior resistance properties. To elaborate, Firstly the Inconel Alloy 718 Flat Bar demonstrates a rather superior resistance property to both creep as well as to stress rupture, even when exposed to a heat source of up to 1300 degrees F. Secondly, the Inconel 718 Forged Bar can prove to have oxidation resistance up to a temperature of about 1800 degrees F.

Depending on the need of the buyer, a WERKSTOFF NR. 2.4668 Bright Bars could be supplied in a solution annealed temper or in an aged condition. The Inconel 718 Round Bar can also be delivered in either a cold worked, or a cold worked & aged condition.

Weight difference between Alloy 718 round bar and flat bar

The Alloy 718 is essentially Inconel 718. It has aluminum, boron, carbon, cobalt, chromium, copper, manganese, molybdenum, niobium, nickel, and titanium in the composition. Due to the material composition the density of the material is 8.19 grams per centimeter cube. The material is made up in different forms including round bars and flat bars. The flat bars have an elongated rectangular cross section where the round bars have a circular cross section. The area of the cross section is very high for the round bar which in turn increases the volume and therefore the weight per meter. A round bar of AMS 5663 standard would weigh 18kg/m where the flat bar will be very low depending on the thickness.

Alloy 718 bars are suitable for -253ºC - 705ºC temperatures and more stronger than Inconel X-750.
