Inconel 718 is a non-magnetic, nickel-chromium alloy and it is precipitation-hardening. It contains small amounts of molybdenum, columbium and iron and miniscule amounts of titanium and aluminum. It is these additions, that increase the resistance of Inconel 601, to different kinds of corrosions. The Density of Inconel 718 is 8.192 g/cm3 (0.296 lb/in3).

Inconel 718 can be machined in the age-hardened condition or in the annealed condition. In the age-hardened condition, it gives a better finish.
