Nickel 201 is a solid solution strengthened, commercially pure wrought materials with excellent mechanical properties and resistance to corrosion. It also has exceptional resistance to caustic alkalis at different concentrations and temperatures. However, the corrosion resistance is better in de-aerated acid. Nickel 201 alloy has low gas content and vapor pressure, and high thermal and electrical conductivities.
Nickel alloys 200 are excellent for heat exchangers in the nuclear industries and chemical processing. They are used in steam generator tubing in the nuclear power industry, in high-temperature aircraft systems and in oil and gas extraction programmes where corrosion- pressure- and temperature-resistant tubing is required. Their corrosion resistance also makes them useful in desalination equipment.
